What Is The Best WordPress Permalink Structure?

Have you ever asked yourself or your friends what is the best wordpress permalink structure? Have you ever asked yourself if you are using the correct or the best permalink structure in your blog? The best wordpress permalink structure is still going under polls in several forums.
Permalink structure is not only for seo. But it is also for the sake of your readers. If your permalink structure looks spammy, then expect that your visitors will click the X button and say goodbye to your blog. Think first before deciding which permalink structure you must use.
These are the common permalink structure used by bloggers:
- domain.com/sample-post/
- domain.com/
?p=123 - domain.com/
2008/07/sample-post/ - domain.com/
2008/07/03/sample-post/ - domain.com/2008/07/sample-post.html (blospot bloggers use this and can’t be changed and most bloggers that migrates from blogspot to wordpress use this structure)
- domain.com/category/sample-post/
If you’ll ask me, the best one for me is the domain.com/sample-post and I’m using it right now in some of my other blogs. Also, most probloggers and seoptimizers use that structure. If you will also browse seo forums, you can read some post that informing that search engines hate long urls and that might cause low search engine position. Also, domain.com/sample-post/ is easy to remember unlike those structure containing dates and other words. Well, that was just some of my thoughts. I’ll respect yours and why not share it to us. Actually I’m not quite understand about permalink and I had disable it on my page.
But as I know it must have extension of html behind url and I don’t whether it does do anything good or bad as all wordpress now using php.

I’d go for /%postname%/ or /%category%/%postname%/
Works wonders in terms of SEO if you ask me…

am currently using date and post title but most of the people prefer to keep category before!

@narendra.s.v - permalink with category is also good. but i still stick to /post-name/ hehe.

why disable it? with new looking wp design you can edit it with keyword seo friendly.
